BG Chair

While studying abroad in Denmark with the Danmarks Designskole DKDS through DIS I learned a variety of traditional scandinavian furniture building techniques.

After falling in love with wood-bending, veneer, and lamination I simply had to build a chair for myself.

I wanted to show off the rich beauty of the maple by using the largest sheets of veneer I could source.
Combined with large flat surfaces and tight bends, the BG chair created a stark geometric recliner; A nice contrast to the usual curvy arcing nature of laminated wood furniture.

Loving the seat shape so much, I didn’t want further wood elements to detract from this one massive singular piece, so I crafted powder-coated welded-steel legs that pay homage to the shape of the seat scoop without overpowering.
